Tote bag for Sibos 2023

About the Sibos tote-bag project

Premium Technology, a fintech company based in Jersey City, brought me on to design a sustainable, ESG-themed tote bag for Sibos 2023, the world's premier annual conference, exhibition, and networking event for financial leaders across the global financial industry.

I completed the design in two weeks, and the Premium Technology team handed out more than 500 bags to the 9,000 convention-goers who visited their booth.

*ESG: Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is a framework used by investors to evaluate a company’s impact and risk levels beyond just their profits.

Designs that didn’t quite make the cut

While the initial concepts were bold, they were ultimately sidelined as the graphics felt too aggressive and strayed from the core brand identity. Specifically, we made the strategic decision to scrap the orange color palette in favor of a more grounded, ESG-focused scheme, ensuring the final design felt professional rather than distracting.

Final design

I opted for a friendly typeface and organic, earthy hues to create an inviting brand presence. For the Sibos 2023 conference, the design served as a gateway to Premium Tech via an integrated QR code. By incorporating world-renowned landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the imagery reinforces our role in the global supply chain and our vision for worldwide expansion.

Reflecting on the SIBOS 2023 Tote bag design

Creating the Sibos 2023 tote-bag design, with tools like photoshop, adobe illustrator, and Figma, help me expand my design thinking outside of the typical apps and websites. I also studied different bag designs and layouts, which was exciting.

Overall, the design was a smashing success. The tote-bags were all given out at the Sibos convention, of which has over 9,000 financial professionals attending.
